About Marilynn

Marilynn Bury was born in Edmonton but has called Kelowna her home since 1971. It is in the beautiful Okanagan Valley where Marilynn has been inspired by the natural surroundings and abundance of fruit and wonderful orchards. Marilynn enjoys painting in both oil’s and acrylic’s, depending on the subject. It gives her great pleasure to see a painting emerge. She likes vibrant warm and sunny tones in impressionistic style especially in her signature whimsical painting’s. As an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artist’s in Kelowna, Marilynn is surrounded by a wonderful and inspiring group of artist’s and friend’s. Art has always been a part of Marilynn’s life. She started drawing as a child moving into oil painting and then on to acrylics. Her earliest subjects were still lifes and people. Over the year’s, Marilynn has developed a notable style with her large and textured fruit painting’s. Her newest interest is discovering the wonderful world of painting street scenes and landscapes. Marilynn’s background as an Interior Decorator has given her a great love and sense of color. Although Marilynn considers herself self-taught, she has taken workshops from various distinguished artists over the years. Marilynn’s work can be found at Ritchcraft Gallery & Framing and Picture Perfect in Kelowna. She also sells her work privately as well as creating unique pieces by commission.
